Viruses are tiny germs that can get inside your body.

A virus is a tiny germ. It is so small that you would need a microscope just to see one. Viruses can make you sick if they get inside your body. They can enter through your mouth, nose, or even your eyes. So, it’s important to keep your hands away from your face, and as clean as possible. Viruses can’t really do much on their own. But when they get inside of you, they begin to invade your body’s cells, using them to reproduce, or make copies of themselves. When this happens, it can make your cells not work properly or even kill them. Luckily, our bodies have a way of fighting off viruses; It’s called the immune system. When a virus enters the body, your immune system attacks it. Sometimes, when you’re sick, you get a fever, headache or runny nose. That is caused by the immune system. Those are signs that your body is fighting the virus. Viruses cannot move around without the help of people or animals. Luckily, there are many things you can do to keep them from spreading. Washing your hands after using the restroom, or just before you eat, is one of the best things you can do. Coughing and sneezing into a sleeve can also help prevent spreading viruses. But most importantly, if you are sick, stay home and rest. Do not leave your house. Doing so gives the virus a chance to spread and reproduce even more. Viruses may be small and cause a lot of trouble, but there is plenty you can do to prevent those small problems from becoming bigger ones.
